Epidemiological aspects of the interaction between Aspergillus spp. and Brazil nut seeds

Description

Brazil nuts are an important food source from the Amazon rainforest, with high nutritional value and commercial importance. However, Brazil nuts are subject to contamination by mycotoxigenic fungi such as Aspergillus spp, which can jeopardize food safety for the population, in addition to causing significant economic losses for producers due to foreign market health requirements. In this context, this project is part of the Technological Innovations Network for the control of aflatoxin contamination in Brazil nuts, coordinated by Embrapa Acre. Its objective is to generate technologies for the diagnosis and control of aflatoxins in the Brazil nut production chain.
